Weekly Notes September 10, 2018

“And receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.”

Please keep in your prayers and thoughts today all the people who perished from the act of terrorism on 9/11/2001. Remember the first responders and ordinary citizens who gave of themselves on that day. Our students stopped at 8:46 a.m. to pray.

There will not be bus service tomorrow (Wednesday) after school. After-Care is always there for parents who need it.

Students in grades 3-8 will be taking their ACT Aspire fall test next week. Please be sure they get plenty of rest and eat breakfast every morning. Teachers have been asked not to give other tests or to give a lot of homework.

The Vitality meeting is tonight, 6:00 p.m. at LA MEX. What is this committee? It is the group of people who plan events and activities to help energize SES. This group helps get the word out that SES is a fantastic place and has a lot to offer. We always welcome new members. Please join us.

Please put your child’s name on the Spirit Shirt order form before returning it to school.

The book fair continues throughout this week in the school library. Family day is Wednesday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Letting your child pick a book that they want is such a great way to help instill a love of reading in your child. The profits of the fair go towards purchasing new books for the library. If you can’t make it with your child on Wednesday, have your child come to school with their money in an envelope and their teachers will take them.

Progress reports will be sent home this Wednesday, 11/12. Please check to see if you are being asked to make an appointment with your child’s teacher(s). As always, feel free to communicate with the teacher about your child’s progress.

Please join me on Wednesday evening 9/12 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria for a conversation. There is no limit on the topics we will chat about. Your input helps the school grow. You are always welcome to bring dinner or a snack if you have not been home. Come and chat!!

Movie Night…

Saturday, 9/15 at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Center. Dinner, popcorn and snacks will be served. Bring your pillows, blankets and lawn chairs. The cost is one non-perishable food item to help stock our food pantry. Come out and enjoy the show!

This is the “maiden voyage” of our school-wide email system. If you speak to anyone who has not received this email, please ask them to call the school and be sure we have their email. You will be receiving more emails so please remember to check.
