Weekly Notes March 26, 2018

April and May are full of testing. These are tests that show the academic growth of your child. There is no studying for these tests; the key was to have done well throughout the year.

We just completed the ACT Aspire Interim IV test which a practice test for the end-of-the-year ACT Aspire. The ACT Aspire will be given from 4/16-20. This test is important as it tells us how well your child has done since the start of the school year. When we get the results, we will know what he/she might need to work on next year that they didn’t quite understand this year.

During the week of 4/30-5/4, the students who receive any of the three scholarships will take the LEAP test. I believe there have been a few rumors going around about this test. There is no passing or failing this test. Again, it shows what students have learned. No one will lose their scholarship. We only ask that students do their best just as they would on any test.

The 8th and 5th grade will test the ACRE test this Wednesday and Thursday, 4/11-12. This assessment will show their growth in the area of Religion. These results are important to us as our students move from year to year in their religious formation.

I do not have the exact total of our Pennies for Patents drive. What I do know is that your generosity overwhelms me. Everyday, more and more “pennies” were donated. I will have the total in the next Weekly Notes.

Lent is almost over. I hope you will take some time to reflect on these last 40 days and 40 nights. As we move into the Easter Triduum we rejoiced on Palm Sunday when Jesus was welcomed victoriously amidst waving palms but then too quickly our emotions changed as he was turned over to the Chief Priests to be executed. How quickly the mood changes. We walk with Jesus as he lives his last hours and then as he is scourged and dies on the cross. And Easter Sunday…his glorious resurrection! So many emotions, so much to understand.

I hope you are able to spend time in prayer during these next few days. And perhaps don’t let your Lenten promises go adrift just because Lent is over. Keep these going, make new ones, keep being thankful for everything we have.

On behalf of Fr. Matthew and the staff, I wish you a most blessed Easter!
