This Friday we will stay after mass to begin our Lenten observance of the Stations of the Cross. Your students may have come home and told you that Silence for Jesus during lunch started in the cafeteria this week. There is no snack sale during this time as well. These are ways that students can participate in sacrificing something for Lent. It is our hope that as they grow into adults it will become something they always include in their lives.
All 8th grade parents:
I have been informed by Assumption Parish Schools that if your child is planning on attending Assumption High School next year, they will be given a placement test at the start of the school year. Hopefully this will help in your plans for next year.
This year due to lack of participation, the Pee Wee basketball games will be held in the evening. They will start at 5:30 pm. I apologize for the late notice but this did not become a necessity until we reached the end of the registration period.
Any parent who is interested in their child participating in the Blessed Margaret Castello REACH Program next year, should go to the Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Schools Office website and complete an application. This should be completed as soon as possible. Please remember that there are two parts to this program. One is the full-time program where students who match the criteria will remain with the teacher all day. The other is a lab-type setting where a student will be in the classroom for no more than an hour a day, or select days to work on the skill that he/she needs to be successful. Each requires an additional tuition amount. Please be encouraged that SES is actively seeking donors to help with these costs. I am extremely optimistic that we will be able to help.
Registration packets will be sent home soon. Please read everything carefully, including the fundraising section, as some things may be different. Our Open House is tomorrow night at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria and Friday after mass in the Community Center. If you know anyone who might be interested in attending SES give them a shout out reminder to attend.
Hopefully you have taken notice that the old gym roof is being power washed and cleaned. It will then be sealed and become like a new roof. This is the first phase of this renovation project. We are very excited. If you haven’t stopped in the cafeteria lately, please come and see the renovation.
Progress reports will go home today. There will also be possible failure notices attached. If your child receives one please contact the teacher immediately for an appointment. As we begin to head into the last 9 1/2 weeks of school it is crucial these issues are addressed.
Have a fantastic week!
