Weekly Notes August 28, 2017

Thank you to everyone who attended last week's Open House. It was good to see so many of you attend!

During the nest couple of weeks you may have your child come home and say they had a substitute for the day. The diocese has offered our teachers a wonderful opportunity to attend workshops, one being a writing "Boot Camp". This workshop is designed around the writing that will be assessed on the ACT Aspire test. It does mean however that teachers must miss being in their classroom to attend. The substitute will have lesson plans to utilize for the the day(s) the teacher is absent.

I heard a cute story the other day. One of our younger children was heard at home singing Ave Maria over and over. Not the song Ave Maria but only those words. The parents could not understand why the child was singing those words and where she heard it. I figured out that it was the Ave Marie that we have been singing in church at our weekly mass. The child could not remember any other words except Ave Maria. I guess the singing in church is working! Now... to just get everyone to remember more words!!

Please remember that the car line does not begin until 6:45 am. For your child's safety do not leave him/her at the gate when there is no one there. Kindly do not blow your horn before 6:45 am to attempt to have someone come open the gate. If you drop your child off late on a Friday morning, remember that we are at mass. You may certainly drive to the church and have them come to mass or wait until mass is over and we return. Do not leave them by themselves waiting until we return.

I hope you have all registered for the Remind alerts that are sent to your cell phone. If you are unsure as to how to do this please call Mrs. Melissa Landry in the school office and she will be glad to help you.

Please remain safe in the weather brought to us courtesy of Harvey. And keep the people of Texas in your prayers as they battle the effects of the storm.
