Weekly Notes November 27, 2017

Over the Thanksgiving holiday new windows were installed in the cafeteria.  If have a chance, pop in and take a look. Next improvement will be lights and painting.

We are dedicated to providing your child with the best Catholic education possible. To help do this, our teachers had a very informative meeting this past Monday with members of the Assumption Parish School district in regards to the process that is involved in determining if there are students who might need extra help in the form of accommodations or if students may have a specific type of learning issue. This process must first be carried out by St. Elizabeth not Assumption Schools and is a state mandate, not one issued by the public school. It is important to work together with our local schools as they are able to offer services to our students. But it is on us to be sure that we complete our part of the process. Stay tuned as weeks go by for more!

Below is information regarding the Christmas Memorial Fund. Information is also being sent home with each student. It is a great way to remember loved ones at Christmas:

A gift to the S.E.S. Memorial Fund lives on in the service of others.  To send a memorial gift, simply send in your donation along with the name(s) of your loved one(s), your name, address & email address and the address & email address you would like a memorial card sent to (optional) to St. Elizabeth School, P.O. Drawer M, Paincourtville, LA 70391.  Please make checks payable to St. Elizabeth School Memorial Fund.   You may also drop it off in the office or send it to school with your child in his or her green envelope.

A sympathy card is sent to the family acknowledging each memorial gift that is received, with the name of the donor.  The deceased is remembered in our prayers and at Friday Mass.  The amount of the memorial gift is not indicated.  Every gift is acknowledged and is deductible for tax purposes.

There will be a Christmas Memorial Mass in honor of your loved ones on Friday, December 15, 2017 during 7:40 A.M. in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.  Please join us.

It is almost time for exams…again! Here is the schedule for grades 5-8.

12/19, Tuesday – Social Studies, English

12/20, Wednesday – Religion, Math

12/21, Thursday – Science, Reading

Please note that study guides may not be sent home until the week before exams. A study guide is just that, a guide. Most times it may be a list of vocabulary/spelling words, names of people for History, things to reread, specific topics to study. It is not a complete item by item list of what students should study. It is not the exam. It is a guide.

Over the Thanksgiving break, I visited the World War II museum in New Orleans. If you have not gone, please try to go.  My family and I spent almost five hours, walking, reading, watching videos, movies and still I don’t think we saw everything.  I looked for my father but did not see him…there were so many faces. But I heard others say they actually found their relative. I learned still more about a subject I thought I knew a lot about. It was a very moving experience.

Have a fantastic week!
