Weekly Notes October 30, 2017

We sprung a leak! Water was coming up through the cement by the entrance to the library yesterday. Workers came yesterday after school and proceeded to jack hammer and dig. They found and repaired the leak and will return today to fill in the hole. We owe a great deal of thanks to Ed Stock and Mr. David Rhodes for their help. Mr. David stayed last night until the leak was repaired. Thanks guys!

The renovations to the cafeteria continue. The measurements for the new windows have been taken and plans to do work during the Thanksgiving break are being made. The goal is to have everything completed by Christmas.

Parent-teacher conferences are today from 3:00-7:00 pm. There is still time to call the office to make an appointment to see your child teacher(s).

I feel this definitely bears repeating. Please try to attend and tell others you know, even if they do not attend the school…

I am happy to announce that we will be having an information night on November 7 at 7:00 pm in the Community Center for the Blessed Margaret of Castello REACH Program that will begin in the 2018-2019 school year. Founded in 1962, the Special Education Program serves the Diocese of Baton Rouge by providing special education centers. This program serves both Catholic and non-Catholic students from the ages of 6 to 21 who have been identified with an exceptionality according to the Louisiana Department of Education, Bulletin 1508. Students who range from being on the spectrum to students needing lab services to remediating dyslexia will utilize this program. In 2016, the program grew to 63 students and for the 2017 school year the program is expecting 81 students.  We are so happy to welcome the program’s director, Ms. Bethany Robicheaux for this information night. Spread the word!

I want to give advance notice that on Grandparents Day, November 17, busing will not be provided after school. As has been the practice in the past, you are free to take your child(ren) home after the activities of the day or have them remain in After-Care.

As you know, our PreK-2 students are not mandated to complete an assigned number of community service hours but nonetheless have decided to embark on a community service project of their own. They have adopted two classrooms in two schools in Texas that were severely damaged in the hurricane. A letter has been sent home with the particulars as to how you can help. Good job little Cubs!

A special thank you goes out to Ms. Jami Lewis and the HSA for giving us a fantastic Cub Fest. It was a bright, sunny day and everyone looked to be having fun. Thank you!
