Weekly Notes January 17, 2017

Carline Reminder - The bell rings at 7:30 a.m.  Expect to wait a few minutes in line if you arrive after 7:20.  Please give yourself enough time in the morning to have your children unloaded by the 7:30 bell when morning prayer begins. Thanks for your cooperation!

Prospective New Family Contact Information – Please send contact information for prospective new families for the 2017-18 school year.  Preparations are being made for recruitment events. There are only limited seats available in certain grades, so early registration is important!

SES is accepting nomination for the Annual Mother Seton Award:  Mother Seton Award is presented annually to honor one individual with the Home and School community who emulates the qualities and service of Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton for whom the award is named.  The Honoree must be a member of the home and school organization and should be an active member of their church parish.  The honoree should be recognized as an outstanding volunteer with at least three years involvement in your Catholic School community and cannot be a paid employee of the school.  It is required that your honoree be present at the award ceremony to accept their award personally. Please consider nominating a fellow parent for this very special honor. Nomination forms were sent home today and are due by Tuesday, January 24. 

Calendar update-Please notice changes made to the calendar for 3rd nine weeks exams and 8th grade End of Year events.  

Drama Practice - Tuesday, January 17-2:00-4:00

 Lip Sync Practice will be Wednesday, January 18 after school. All music and lyrics must be turned into school for approval.  All students must be picked up by 3:30 from the Community Center.

Snack Sales - January 20 and 27.  All items are $1.

 Lip Sync - Friday, January 20 at 7:00.  All students participating in Lip Sync must be at the Community Center at 6:15 for group pictures.

Boys Basketball Games- Monday, January 23-Home vs. Sacred Heart- 5th grade at 5:45, 6th grade at 6:30, 8th grade at 7:15. Wednesday, January 25- at St. George- 6th grade at 5:45, 8th grade at 7:15. Saturday, January 28- at OLOM-5th grade at 10:15. 

 Boys Basketball Pictures- have been changed to Thursday, January 26. Boys Basketball players must bring uniforms to school for pictures. 

DARE Graduation - 5th grade DARE Graduation Wednesday, January 25, at 12:30 p.m.  All are invited to attend.

K Parent Breakfast- Tuesday, January 24 at 7:00.  Parents are invited to join us in the prayer garden following breakfast. 

Dress Down to Make a Difference– January 25.  All proceeds will go to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  Students are allowed to wear “Dress Down Day” attire for a minimum donation of $2.00.  Please follow the rules stated in the handbook 4.4.7.  Dress Down Day Guidelines:

  1. Students who are allowed to participate in Dress Down Days should dress appropriately for school. This includes:
  2. No open shoes, platform shoes, sandals, slip on or boots. Shoes must be closed.
  3. Regulation socks must be worn.
  4. Usual rules for jewelry and makeup apply.
  5. Shirts must not advertise alcohol, tobacco, offensive language, rock groups, or music.
  6. No sleeveless shirts, tight-fitting pants, wind pants or sweatpants. Jeans must not be tight fitting or too baggy or have holes in them. Wide bottom and low-waist pants are inappropriate. Pants must be worn at the waist.
  7. No other inappropriate clothing is allowed. Clothing must completely cover the student’s torso. No skin should be seen between shirt and pants.
  8. Only uniform shorts are allowed. No other shorts may be worn. All pants must come to the ankle.
  9. Belts must be worn if pants have belt loops

Home & School Meeting -  Thursday, January 26 at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Catholic Schools Mass- Sunday, January 29 at 10:45am at St. Elizabeth Church

Catholic Schools Week donations- As in the past, The Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge is asking all Catholic schools to participate in a donation drive to help those in need. All items collected will be donated to Catholic Charities.  St. Elizabeth students are asked to bring household goods- gift cards, napkins, paper towels, toilet paper. paper plates, garbage bags, etc.  Please send all items to school on Tuesday, January 31. Students who bring an item will be allowed to dress down on Tuesday, January 31.  Students may wear blue jeans, appropriate shirt and shoes of choice. 

SES Movie Night- Thursday, February 2 at 6:00 in the Community Center.  This will be a no homework night.  More information will follow. 

Aftercare payments – Please be attentive to aftercare fees and submit payments in a timely fashion.

Breakfast in the cafeteria is from 7:10- 7:25 daily.  Please make sure your child arrives early enough if you want them to eat breakfast.
